I don't have one, I have room for one in my basement, but can't afford one, so I hand quilt, and not very good at that...lol but my quilt manage to stay together.

I use my regular mechanical Brother to do my quilting. It can do free motion or stitch in the ditch. You don't need a special machine although it would be nice to have one.

I think long arm machines are a true luxury, an investment with no return for your money...unless, of course, you quilt for others. But I have seen many long arms up for sale by quilters who got so busy quilting for everyone else that they no longer had the enjoyment of planning, piecing, quilting, and finishing personal projects.

If money were no object, and I could justify it on my conscience, I would definitely have one. But then I would need to buy a bigger house or at least add on to our existing house to make room for the frame!

No, I feel it is more important to put funds aside for daughter's college and our retirement. With practice, I can do a fine job quilting on my regular machine.

I quilt by hand and until recently, I pieced by hand. My daughter bought a Brother sewing machine for my birthday. I started to piece by machine and it was instant gratification. I will always quilt by hand and find it very relaxing. I also enjoy needle turn appliqué. So you are not alone.

Another who does not have a LA (Long Arm), just my Janome 6500. Usually my largest (queens & kings) quilts go to 'the quilter'. I quilt the rest, usually grid, SID and meandering, starting to get confident to try patterns/designs.

No LA here and no desire for one. Hand quilter. Do simple machine quilting on charity kid's quilts and it is not something I enjoy.

The biggest I've quilted on my domestic sewing machine is a twin. It turned out nice but I have a Christmas tablecloth I want to quilt and I think I'm going to try quilting the two sections and then joining the batting with a zigzag and then hand stitching the backing together. If this works well, I'm going to use this method to try a queensize quilt. I have hand quilted a couple of quilts and I do enjoy it but it takes me so looooog that I get bored. As for purchasing a mid or long arm, not in my budget yet.
