i usually say "No, I don't want to do that, i just want to do this" and move on.
I was in my Joann's the other day and saw more teenage boys working in there and was surprised. I better know what i want & watch them cut it, because i know all those boys don't have clue 1 about sewing!!

Customer service is just not what it used to be in a lot of stores. My current pet peeve - when the clerk hands me the wrong thing and I politely correct them. Then they say "you said such-and-such". I know what I said and why would I ask for something I didn't want? Why not say "sorry, I misheard you"? Makes me mad everytime.
