i usually say "No, I don't want to do that, i just want to do this" and move on.

I was in my Joann's the other day and saw more teenage boys working in there and was surprised. I better know what i want & watch them cut it, because i know all those boys don't have clue 1 about sewing!!

Remember that it takes two people to create miscommunication and the other person's lack of manners doesn't mean I have to show a lack of manners as well. A good, non=threatening response to this might be "If I said xxx I misspoke, I intended to say "yyyy". I don't have bad manners and I never said that I gave any response at all. I just ignore the comment. I was merely stating that it makes me mad that they insist on making me be wrong when they clearly just made a simple and trivial mistake. My point was that it's no big deal. Here's what I want, just switch it out. Instead, they refuse to take any responsibility, making it seem that noone should ever admit to making an error.
