Beautiful fabrics. What a nice remembrance of a grand older woman.

You have a real treasure trove of molas! I bought 2 when I visited the San Blas Islands a few years ago. I framed them to hang on my wall in AZ. There are many many things you can do with them after you get rid of the musty smell. Please don't wash them, as I think the colors will probably run, and they may not hold together very well.

What to do with them? In addition to quilts: pillows, totes, wearable art, wall hangings. ENJOY!!!

What a treasure you have. My question is ??? If someone put so much time and talent into this why didn't they put it to gather. Do you know if she was making these blocks for a quilt or what ever. I just can't imagine doing all that beautiful hand work and then not creating a keepsake of rememberence. Wow it just blows my mind that this sweet woman could created such beauty with her hands. There has to be a storie to tell somewhere. God Bless You for caring enough to preserve her loving work

I'd send those pictures to Kaffe Fassett. That's just his sort of thing. He photographs all over the world and probably has access to the best conservators. They might find their way into his next book.

hugs,
charlotte

These first items
r called Moda's... They r from South America. Pannama Canal and south..
I had several of them and embellished a jacket with some of them..
I would only hand wash.. Lots of red where used and they r not color set.
You do have a fabulous collection. They cost about $1. for small and up to $5 for larger ones.
Still can find them in that area.

Oh those are so pretty. Now I need to ask Mom where are all the Mola's she bought when Dad was stationed in Panama. I was little back then and but I remember her having several when we moved to Arkansas. I have pictures somewhere of the ladies of that tribe wearing the Mola's as their tops.
