I'm jealous...I have not been to a retreat yet but am certain I would enjoy it. There is one coming up in Kennebunk, Maine in early May but my DIL is due with my second grandson April 27th so I'm not sure I should take the chance as I really want to be there when he is born.

Now I am jealous, with all my grandchildren grown and living too far away to enjoy and none married yet with grands. If I had the opportunity to be with one of them when they do finally get married and have children it would take more than a quilt retreat to keep me away. Enjoy that special time.

Easy piecing (chain stitching), sewing binding on quilt, and free motion quilting is what I have done before. Be sure to have all cutting done ahead so cuts are more accurate; think trying to cut and talk. I am fortunate to go to Missouri Star for retreats and what fun is had!!!! This April my group is going to Hamilton, but we are staying at the Home Inn so we can just have our group together. Have fun!! Dianne

I haven't been on a retreat for several years, I like going in the winter and hopefully have a window to look out and hope it snows me in.

I go on 3 retreats a year, they are so much fun. Lots of sewing, lots of eating, lots of chatting, and enjoying each others company. Great place for opinions on what you are working on. And don't worry if you don't sew on a sewing machine. Retreats are for you, for you to do whatever you like. Read, nap, hand sew, machine sew, go for a walk, swim, shop, whatever. I always bring hand and machine sewing along with several projects (you never know what you feel like working on). If you don't have any get-a-ways in the area, organize a weekend get-a-way yourself. It always takes one person to take the lead and organize it. Our weekends start on Wed and end on Sunday. People come whenever they can, I find them extremely enjoyable.

Such fun! My DIL and I have talked about going to MSQ retreat but with her still working and other commitments it hasn't happened yet. So looking forward to just going there and seeing everything. Oh, well, maybe this year!

What is the best way to find retreats? I haven't had luck with my LQS. Is there another way to find a local (or fairly local) retreat?
