    Anonymous "Gift Horse"...Suggestions?

On Sept. 27th, 2012, I received the following message on Facebook (I'm pretty sure I know the person...) & Nato is my husband:

    "hey u up?
    • i know this is weird but i want to know how much your quilt frame costs that you want. Dont tell nato that you got this random message though please. i want to stay anonymous

    • well you must be asleep. I created this account to find out the info i needed. i hope you dont think its a random stalker account."

As I said before, I'm pretty sure I know them, but they said they made the account strictly to ask me that info, but they created the Facebook account on August 22nd, 2012, and didn't contact me until September 27th, 2012.

I didn't tell anyone but my husband about the quilt frame until after September 1st, 2012...

I swear to God it was not me! I did not even know you existed until you posted the message about the frame.

If it is someone you know, maybe from a quilting group, they should contact you more directly and with info as to who they are.

I would think that "Nato" put someone up to it and go ahead provide the contact information for them to enquire.

Thing is, if I ever ask Nato something outright, he NEVER lies to me.

He doesn't know who this is & is concerned.

    It does seem odd.

Would there be any possible harm in providing make, model, cost, and where to purchase the quilt frame you want?

Then the safest thing to do is not reply and delete this "person" as a facebook "friend"

With my kind of luck lately, I wouldn't reply. I would also delete this person. Sounds kind of spooky! How far will it go?

I haven't added them as a Facebook friend. I don't want then to have acess to it from that acct.

Better to be safe and not reply to them. If they are sincere and you don't reply, they will fess up and admit to the contact.

My advice is....if you don't know this person, and the dates are as you described them...don't respond. Chances are that this person won't follow up...if it was me, and they DID follow up, I'm afraid they would be in for a surprise...capice?

I agree with the others. Delete! If the person is sincere, he/she will find a better way to get the information.

If it's not Nato, and he is concerned, then I would be too. I would ignore this person. If its on the up and up, they will recontact you and tell you who they are. If they do not, then I would not offer any info at all. Things are just too weird out there anymore.

I'm with the others - provide no information, block the person and adjust your settings to highest privacy. If by some chance Nato asked someone to find out what type of frame you want, and he's just pretending he knows nothing about it, then both he and the other person will find that asking you directly is the best policy.
A fabric stash is always missing that one fabric needed to finish the quilt on which you're working.

I think I would just post what I wanted and then not give any other information. Sure don't give any personal information. What could that hurt? Weird though.

Anyone can sign up for QB and find out that someone needs a machine, use it as a way to possibly scam the person that needs one. Many here have said, "Hit delete". Sounds like good advice to me. We are not safe on QB from scammers although I would like to believe everyone on here is truthfull and can be trusted. Be wise.

I don't know much about Facebook, but if this person is a "friend", can you go to their page and learn more about them to solve the mystery? If not, I would ignore the request for information completely. If the request is legitimate, they will find another way to contact you and be up front about who they are.
