I got some gloves with rubber bumps on them I think from the dollar store. At the time, I was thinking of them to pet the cats and help remove some excess fur. They work for that, and for pushing a quilt around in your machine.

Just be careful. I got going all "in the zone" and promptly sewed the edge of the shelf liner to my quilt. I love the idea of the erasers or the sponges, because it will be hard to do that, or catch a finger with everything raised. Easier for little ones to learn safely too.

How does anyone know items work just the same without comparison? I would have to test the quilting pads first to know how the sponges or erasers compare and then decide about the price difference. I have sprayed basting spray on batting squares to use to move my quilt top while fmq.
