Great idea, I will give this a try, sure worth it. I like the machinger gloves, have to agree with everyone else, not having to take them off and on would be great! I do like this board for the hints everyone is so willing to share. Thanks!

An even cheaper alternative (and one that I love) is circles (or rectangles) made out of rubbermaid grip-it shelf liner. At the Dollar Tree, you can get two round pieces that are the perfect size, and they are thicker than the shelf liner. They also are wonderful for opening jars!

While at the last Sewing Expo in my area I saw a demo of hand pads for FMQ. The price was $30, ouch. My friend Redbugsullivan said that was waaay too much money and she had an idea that dryboard erasers would work just as well for less $$. She gave me a two pack to try. These pads are working for me as they grip the fabric very well, are soft on the hands, don't have to remove my quilting gloves every time for a bobbin change and they are cheap!
