I can't make a quilt, wall hanging, pillow case, needle holder, christmas tree of yo-yo's, anything. that someone in my family doesn't want it.

I have very few of the things I have made. But, I love giving them away. Especially to someone I know will cherish them, and my family does.

My husband would like to keep most of my finished quilts. I made a lap size quilt especially for him for Christmas this year. I have another gift quilt planned for him that I hope to finish in 2011.

It does bring joy to give gifts that are appreciated!

One of my sisters will hang on to a quilt as long as she can possibly do so even though she had intentions of giving it away from the git-go. She'll come to your house to visit it too. My other sister can't even remember how many she's made or who she's given them to. And I guess I'm somewhere in between....I give almost everything I make away, but I do have my own. Nothing cuddles as well as a hand made quilt! My children love my quilts & they don't care how many they accumulate. No grandchildren & looks as though there will never be any, but quilting for charity takes care of that need in me.

I can sympathize with you!! One year I made embroidered Christmas cards for family members and special friends. One DIL framed hers...it was a nativity scene. My mother framed hers and all the rest must have thrown them away. I never heard a word about them. This year I made some beautiful ones and donated them to our WMU auction at church for Lottie Moon. I'll be careful who I sew for from now on!

I mostly make the smaller 55" by 70" sizes.
Cause those are easier for me to handle.
I give them to grand kids and gr grand nieces and nephews and the all seem to love them.
I also give some to the church, for those who need them.
I assume that anyone who is cold and needs a blanket, appreciates them. :-)

I kept several for us to use,
but can't see them just laying here unused.

Do you think they might appreciate them more if they had to put out the actual worth of a quilt in dollars? Not to mention the love that goes into one

I quit giving them to husbands family you spent hours trying to get them to fit the personality of reciever and the last straw was when his mother said Oh i thought it was a real quilt but its not hand quilted. said i would never give thwm another one But no problem qiving them to grandkids every time they come over they go thru whats ready to quilt or closet where i keep material to pick out material and pattern they want. I also give them away to the local police station for those times when children are involved and they just need something to comfort them.
