I ve done that more than a few times...last time it went all the way thru my finger and came out of machinecompleyly...

I remember my grandmother doing that and wondering how she could stand it. I'm sure she was calmer than she would have been if I weren't standing there.

Not a needle but a treble fishing hook through the toe and had to cut the end off to remove.

I learned when I reach around the machine to keep my fingers out of the way, instead of hitting the bobbin rewind button I hit the thread cut button. It happens really fast.

I did that once when I was about 16-Wowzer that hurt-I pulled the needle out so fast I don't remember it going in-
