Mine went in and broke off, just beneath the nail. I had to use 2 pliers--one to shove up from the bottom and the other to grab the broken needle. Strangely enough, once it was out, it hardly bled, and only hurt til the next day. But at the time---WOWSERS!!!!! the air was blue!!

Ouch... I have never put a stitch thru my finger but have have gotten it stuck under the needle. It took Forever to get it out.. The needle up down would not work and I couldnt turn the wheel. I had to push the needle into my finger farther so I could actually take the needle out of the machine. I still remember the Pain..
I feel for you

I recently sewed thru my finger. Thru my fingernail and out the top of my finger. Grabbed the pliers and out it came. Changed the needle and kept going!

I worked in a garment factory the summer after I graduated from high school, and during my first week of training I put the industrial machine needle through my fingernail and finger. I got to meet the factory nurse right away! (minimum wage that year was $2.00 and hour)

I have done it once... through my nail and then the needle bend can came out the top of my finger. it was interesting. but I was free motioning a christmas present close to christmas. I pulled the needle out and bandaged it up and started again.

I also cut a good chunk out of my finger with the rotary blade last week, just bandaged myself up and kept going. I even added a 2nd quilt to the frame for the LA and finished it up. but that one I didn't trim the edges... I now remember why I serge the edged of my stuff.

Been there, done that. It really hurts when you do it with your longarm machine!

Ouch! Haven't done that yet but have come close several times. Do watch it closely that it doesn't get infected!
