I've come close--on the long arm! Scared me to death, and oh that must have hurt! So sorry! Keep an eye on it not to get infected. I'm hurting for you just thinking about it!

  My sister did it to me when I was little. Little sister just did what Big sister told her to do. "It's OK just put your finger there and let's see what happens". My sister thought it was real funny (I DIDN'T). She did move the wheel up fast. Guess my scream was loud enough. Hope yoiur finger is OK. This is still one of my sisters favorite stories. She also did other things to me (but we won't go there). Still love her. Isn't family great. For me this is a distance memory, until she tells her stories. Hopefuly soon your finger it won't hurt so bad. Hugs to all our sisters and brothers with holes in their fingers. BrendaK

I had the bright idea that if I used my zipper foot to sew a rag quilt together I could get really close to the batting.

Well, I also got 'really close to the needle'. I was going through the intersecting seam of the 4-patch and my hand slipped off the seam and I sewed right thru my finger next to the nail. BUT, when I jerked my hand, I bent the needle at a 90 degree angle and tore out the side of my finger!

So, don't be tempted to use the zipper foot for the rag quilts ... bad idea!

sigh... yes... but a different kind of frustration... almost snipped the pad of my thumb off while attempting to snip a simple thread... 6 stitches later, I was fine... and humbled...

Who knew quilting and sewing was so dangerous!!
