I purchased this set but I haven't tried to use it I have to get some tops put together so I can check it out. I hope it works well for me. Yes it was pricey, but then what isn't in this hobby. My son gave me some quilting tools this past Christmas and his comment to me when I opened his gift "Gee Mom your hobby I expensive". He is so right, but I love my hobby. will be checking out all of the videos that have been suggested I this thread.

I've ordered a set, but if you used the children's drawings templates, maybe it would work if you got two sets and glued them together, one on top of the other. Otherwise, they would be too thin and would slide under the presser foot, and that you would not want. Someone should try this and see if it works.

Ok, now I've bought sewing supplies and haven't left the house. Got the Janome foot for my Brother PQ1500. Now I need the templates going to cost me a lot more Maybe it would be cheaper to go to the mall.

I saw these templates just before we bought a house in FL and will be making a move in late July. All of my quilting stuff is packed and may be a while before it is unpacked as we need to build a studio. I do plan on getting a set of these once I get set up. Looks like an awesome way to quilt the quilts. Thanks for asking the question about these. Would love to see some pictures of quilts done this way.

Sophie,
To see pics of quilts quilted using rulers
check out Amy Johnson's blog on:

Also look up Amy Johnson on YouTube. She does a lot of quilting with rulers at her sit down domestic sewing machine. She's a fantastic teacher. She also has a sampler quilt that she's been working on for a while and the combination of ruler work and regular fmq that she has done on it is fantastic.

I am teaching myself to free motion and use the quilting rulers and the ruler foot. I have a Janome Horizon 8200 MQ with an 11 or 12 inch harp, and love it. I am having a blast learning. Oh by the way, I used to be a die hard hand quilter. I am really enjoying the ruler quilting. Amy Johnson has excellent u-tube tutorials and classes on Craftsy. Go for it.

I know this post is a few months old--I found it when I was searching to see what others are doing the rulers & templates. I thought you might be interested in seeing what I've been doing with the Westalee rulers & templates: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...m-t281555.html

Your work is beautiful. I'm not at your level yet! Mine are still simple. My problem is I get bored doing it.

Funny how lots of us are on the same track. I also ordered the starting set and the feathers add on set to get started on ruler work. If you have ever paid for long arm quilting, you will understand the value of having these to quilt with instead of sending them out. They will pay for themselves in a short amount of time. I am excited to get them in the mail.

Oh by the way, check on line to see the prices at a few places before buying. I got mine for much less.
