Baby K's Quilt
with backing simply won't load! AAAArg! Well I'll try again, but it was a simple grey paisley print, to honor the mom's wishes, and I made the front bright & colorfull like I wanted! Thye parents said they liked it, but I can only hope they really do.....

my two cents as a mommy and as a quilter, if you asked the mom for colors then go with her colors. there might be more important reasons why the mom wants the colors and is just giving you one of them. I have just made a crib set for a very close friend who is having a baby and while I like the fabric and colors she choose, I would not ever have picked them myself because they are not my taste. When I make up a crib set I always make a separate baby quilt in a smaller size to use to wrap up the baby in. I do this because most babies are not supposed to use anything in the crib till they are around a year old or even older. (I make the crib quilt so that it will fit a toddler bed (which most cribs nowadays are the size of) this way it will be used longer.) I vote for making one that you like and then the crib one for the mommy. I hope that this helps you.

When my son was born 22 1/2 yrs ago,
The first of his quilts was black and white.
E eryone loved especially my son.
For thefirst few months, babys focus on black and white
they also like fa es and geometric shapes.
I made him a black ad white sq. Quilt and
Apliqued geo shapes onit.
he loved looking at it

I don't ask what people want. I just make the baby quilt unless something specific has been mentioned in the shower invitation. After all, it is a gift. You know the circumstances go with your own best judgment. I would NOT feel compelled to go with black and grey. They may not use the quilt in the bedroom anyway.
PS It is a very thoughtful gesture of the mom to consider the little girl who shares the room. But, IMHO, no black and gray for Baby.Good luck.
