I bought one at my local LQS that was fine. The strips were cut straight and they were the correct width.

I am glad this thread was started. I too had been thinking of buying some. Not now.

When I cut strips if it isn't perfect (and I mean perfect) it goes in my scrap basket. I am anal about this kind of thing.

Thanks again for this thread and this board!! :)

I can buy my own yardage & cut my own strips & usually without screwing the strips up. Cheaper than buying precut strips that may end up being wonky and wavy as all get out. That is a shame. I have a friend who had heck with the Bali Pops recently as well. They were so uneven and just pathetic!

Is it only the Hoffman batik strips? Or have any of you had problems with other batik strips (Island Batik makes them, too, but they call theirs "strip tease buns").

Thanks for letting us know about this company. This is a large board so if we all stop buying from them because of the way you were treated, believe me they will feel it!!

I am so sorry this happened to you and I must share with you all my experience. I am totally new to quilting so when I made a jelly roll quilt with the Bali Pops - I think it was called Bars of Gold - I thought it was my fault when everything came out "wavy" even though I was extremely careful with pressing and cutting. I did notice throughout the whole process that the strips were not evenly cut but once again figured that because I was new, I didn't know what I was talking about. I also noticed that some of the material felt "thinner" than other pieces if that makes any sense. After reading all of your comments, I now know it wasn't me. I did not like this product and planned on never buying it again.
