Yikes! I found this out when I basted on my breakfast nook floor. I used murphy's oil to clean my floor, so I would think it would work for your hands too. Some basting sprays are much stickier than others.

That's why I always advise putting a large sheet down first, to catch any overspray. The sheet can go in the regular laundry.

Sorry you have had such a bad experience with basting spray your first time. I use it all the time and love it. It is quick and easy and really keeps the fabric in place for FMQ. However, you MUST use an old sheet or newspaper at least 12"larger than your project to accommodate the overspray. I haven't had to clean anything us yet, so no help with that.

I use the 505 spray all the time, with every quilt and it does not gum up the needle. Some of the others will and are harder to clean up.

Mine doesn't gum up my needle, but my shoes stick to the floor for a while. It does make quilting easier.

After you use the quilting spray, do you need to pin it still?

I use the spray on every quilt. I only spray the batting. Spray one side of the batting & lower the sticky side onto the backing. Spray the other side of the batting & lower the top onto the batting. Any edges that have the sticky stuff on it, I fold over toward the center of the quilt. Now there should be no sticky stuff exposed.
