Default Border suggestions, please...

So far so good on this quilt top. I just this minute finished it, but now I could sure use some border suggestions. My first thought was a light purple and then a dark purple, but I can't visualize it. I have some of most of the fabrics in the quilt.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Beautiful quilt. Try pinning the purples to a side and step back or look through a reducing glass to see what it will look like. Personally I'd use the blue...but then again I am a blue person.

I use a front door peephole glass (available at Home Depot/hardware store) as a reducing glass. They look like little telescopes, are cheap and do the trick. I carry one when I go fabric shopping so I can see what my fabric will look like put together, from a distance.

Hope this helps.

Oh, I like the idea of the front door peephole thing. I need to get one of those. It sounds like it could help be a lot. My son has suggested black, and my sister suggested black with a binding made of of some of each of the three colors. This is such a different quilt, way more dramatic than I normally make.

I like the idea of the light and then dark purple. Great quilt top!

I' curious to know what the pattern is called. I love using black so I would probably go that way.

I think the purples would be fabulous. Gorgeous quilt.

I'm not sure I would put a border on it - unless you want to make it bigger - it is pretty dramatic as it is.

I love this quilt! The colors and the pattern are wonderful. If you need borders, try very narrow black inner border to make your family happy and then add you purples that you like.

If it were my quilt, I'd do an inner border in some bright color that is not in the quilt -- probably yellow -- and then add larger borders of the purple or pink. I'd bind it in some of everything. Of course, I like them loud!

It's called First Light Log Cabin. I got it off the internet. I googled Easy Quilts, and this was one of the choices. I don't see an actual "site address" on the copy I made, but it from QuiltersHOme Mag, a Friday freebie...in case you want to try to find it. They did it in purple, pink/red, and yellow/orange. Their sample doesn't have a border, and I can't tell what their binding is. It's a very small picture, and one part of the instructions is missing, though that part isn't the binding part.

I think I'd add another purple stacking block on the upper right corner, then put a border in pink (that's not included in the stacking blocks). Since there's no black in the body I wouldn't add it to the border.

Another option would be a print with all the colors.
