    I always try to use what's on hand if possible. There is nothing wrong with using your strips. It will make it more home made!

    Join them together with a zig-zag and you'll be even more pleased that you've got a bit of your mum in the quilt!

    I say use the strips. They should work just fine and she will love the quilt anyway you do it.
