Log cabin would be a bginners pattern as that is whay I learnt as a behinner or my next one will be a dissapearing 9 patch as that is our guilds challenge I can handle that.

Log cabin. Pick your colors and make your blocks. Then move your blocks around and see all the neat layouts that are possible. When you find the one who like, sew the blocks together.

Irish chain, log cabin, lovers knot by eleanor burns, those are all really easy strip patterns and they come out lovely

I agree that the snowball and nine patch would be a good choice.

Totally agree with log cabin, and if you do the stitch and flip method with backing and back all you need do is join them up after. :-D

I have made a few quilts. I am self taught. See something I like read about it. Get all the info I need, DH figures how much fabric. I don't have a quilting machine. It's too expensive to send out. I stick with fairly easy things. I made an around the world quilt using one size blocks. I am working now, on my first log cabin quilt, and it's looking pretty good. I am planning to make a double irish quilt for my younger sister, and that looks to be pretty easy. Jacobs ladder is another. Good luck to you
