"Audition" some different approaches and find one that makes the most sense to you. When I got interested in this technique I found so many different approaches to paper-piecing and so much "advice" that I simply got confused. Then I got Carol Doaks' video at JoAnn using a discount coupon and decided to learn her approach and stick with it. It has worked for me. The 'Add a Quarter" and "Add an Eighth" tools she shows have been real time-savers. I've been using the June Taylor "Perfect Piecing" sheets (look like dryer sheets -- probably are!) that you run through your printer and the just leave in the block as a stabilizer when you're finished rather than tearing out -- there seems to be less stretching and twisting with it since more complex blocks get handled a lot.

Your hint intrigued me how does this work? Do you just leave the non-fusible interfacing on the project?

Interesting to see how many of you started off small and easy! Me, well I jumped right in and did "Love Letters of the Civil War" 121 squares of itty bitty pieces and large pieces but I am addicted to paper piecing and can't wait to do something else, maybe easier.
