OMGosh that is too funny. My floor is too dirty to lay the quilts on. Good thing or I would do what you did.

I have at least one or two pins that are stuck to the carpet when I bast a quilt.

Since we are on the subject..........Has anyone used one of those basting guns? Its like the guns you use to put tags on clothes. You load it with the plastic "Pins" and it has a needle that after you stick it and pull the trigger the plastic tie comes through the needle and its basted.

They are $27 at Hancock Fabrics and the plastic ties are $4 per 500 or so. I am thinking about buying one for the heck of it and try it out.

I also tape the backing to the to my kitchen floor. Then I lay the batting and the quilt top. I pin it down with safety pins.

one time the back of my quilt was folded and i didn't notice it until after i was done. had to take the whole thing apart.

Nope - never have...BUT, I did make a tote that caused problems. I'm still not sure what I did when I was doing the last topstitching around the top, but SOMEHOW, I sewed the bag and caught up the handle and it was sewn so I couldn't get the darn thing off my sewing machine!!!! Had to use the handy-dandy seam ripper again!!!!

Yup I've done that. I've even tied a quilt to the carpet. Whoops!
