I have done a lot of black and white quilts. One thing I try to do in most of them is have a "small" pop of one other color - like yellow or red or pink or lime green. And right now I'm designing (in my head) a black, white and silver embroidered anniversary quilt in crepe backed satin. Do it! You'll be amazed at how stunning it is. And be sure to post a pic when you are done.

Well, I did one. It's my avatar. Some of the quilting is black thread on white.

Black and white quilts are extremely attractive. There's one in the November 2008 edition of Quilters Newsletter that is bow ties in a grid on point with a checkerboard background and wide border with applique bits and bowtie blocks at corners and centers. The challenge was to make the quilt 85% neutral with 15% color. There is a narrow red sashing in the center portion, and some of the color bits in the border are also red. There's a lot you can do with just black and white!
