Blood Sweat and Tears or a new Fad

I'm so sorry to hear you did that. When I first got my 7700 I was using the start /stop button and I felt out of control but thought I just had to get use to it. I then watched a few of Leah Day's videos and she didn't recommend using that button so I have given up and use the foot petal. It just feels like it's the right thing to do. I had forgotten it's even there.

Must be something with Janome Memory Craft and their love for the taste of fingers. Last year, I sewed my pointed finger, right through the center of the nail, needle broke when it chipped the bone, and I now have 2 pieces of shrapnel in the finger. Be very careful, I no longer us the stop and start button.

My experience with that was when I was about 8 and trying to make a stocking hat for my little brother while Mom was outside. It was with a treadle machine and I don't remember if I got it out without help or not. The hat never fit either.

I have done it. the second time I sewed through my finger, it threw off the timing on my brand new longarm. It did not hurt much - fleshy part at the side of the finger is the way to go. I was SO UPSET about the timing being off, but I did some research and now have a new skill: re-timing my longarm!
Important information: the longarm has two handles. use both at all times!

OH!! OUCH!! Makes me hurt just thinking about it. Haven't done that one yet but have stuck the needle through my finger when I was threading it and my "canine helper" stepped on the pedal. That hurt bad enough! Hope your finger heals quickly and so glad to hear you didn't get blood on your fabric. Talk about adding insult to injury!

My Mom and I went to a class many years ago where the "teacher" began by telling us that in order to be considered an "expert" sewist, one had to sew through at least one finger. We never went back. I hadn't; and I still haven't, and I don't ever intend to, thanks be to God.
