I have several brother machines and the latest one has a plastic black case around the bobbin housing, it is the problem with mine. I was very disappointed had to buy a new machine for the same reason, price. I upgraded to a new machine. I do regular maintenance on my machines and keep this area clean.

I have the same machine and had that happen one time. I cleaned it, completely re threaded it (spool as well as bobbin) and put in a new needle and whatever was the problem was solved.
Make sure you're using the right kind of bobbin??? A plastic one like what came with the machine - metal is not good.

I'm sorry the cleaning didn't help. Did you clean the moving parts as well as the case? Lint builds up on those to. I ended up cleaning mine yesterday after reading your post and boy did it need it.
This is a neat little tool I use to get into those difficult spots on my machines when I need to oil them. My husband got me one from his job but you can buy them and they make oiling a cinch. Some if you look around do have a longer tip.
