Has anyone tried the Magic Bobbin Washers in their machines (says it is a little teflon type disc and are supposed to stop thread nests) - anybody try them?

i wasn't really having problems but got some anyway, and guess what... i still don't have problems! LOL
i think they mainly are supposed to help in quilting because of the many different speed changes

The place i think they really help is... I use pre-wound machine embroidery bobbins (NEBS). When the bobbin gets about 75% used, it starts to rattle around the bobbin case a bit. The washers help then. I just got a Long arm and I've noticed that when the bobbin gets low, it seems to do the same thing. i was thinking about getting some for the long arm. They are also called "Bobbin Genie". Do a search on this board. Seems like there have been quite a few posts on this recently..

I know nothing about them, but Leah Day says they are not necessary for nice FMQ. She does beautiful work, so I tend to trust her advice. That being said, since every machine is different, maybe someone else's machine would love them.

Boy, that's some wishy washy advice!

I use them in all my machines, even with the plastic drop in bobbin for my Janome. I never get the bird nest of thread anymore or the little jerk when the bobbin first starts turning. They last almost forever (if you don't drop it and can't find it). Remember to take the little spring thingy out of the metal bobbin case. It's easy to put back if you don't use the washer.

Great, thank you. I was wondering if because it "filled" the bobbin case a little more (top load) if that would give a more even feed as the thread is used off the bobbin.
Thank you for your thoughts and I will search the board as well - didn't think of that. :-)
