BrightStars Octagon Tabletopper
I'm new to quilting and have started with table toppers and runners and free patterns I find on line. I just cut out the fabric for the BrightStars Octagon tabletopper and the first 5 steps refer to another pattern that I can't find! I'm so disappointed. It's referring to the BrightStars table runner but I can't download those instruction (dead site). Does anyone know where I can find it? I wouldn't be so upset but I've cut everything out and can't figure it out on my own.

Is this the pattern you are referring to?

If you Google the table runner there are several places with it ... but it looks like you have to pay for it, including from the Pinetree people.
Looks like they took a "for sale" runner pattern and revamped it to make the topper you have started. A lesson on reading the pattern, before you cut your fabrics.

Sorry for your problems. I wish I had the pattern, but I don't. A piece of advice that I don't always heed is to read all the pattern before you cut any fabric. This is one time that would really have come in handy for you.
The interesting thing is that not all the parts from the other pattern are included in your cutting directions. This pattern, also, does not include your 4 patch as such. If this was me, I would lay out all the pieces you have cut to see what you are missing. The block is a 10" finished block. This makes it simpler. Your center should be cut as a 2 1/2" square which when sewn will be 2". You will need additional 1 1/2" squares to sew for the center star points that are attached to the 2 1/2" background squares surrounding the center.
You will need to build each 2" segment and then sew them all together in rows. Hope this helps some. I drew the block out in EQ7. Thought you might like to have a clear picture of what your center looks like.

The website has a blurb at the very bottom of the page about their patterns being available at Quilter's Warehouse. You can also find them on ebay. Here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-Bright-...item4178a12529
