Can I stitch after spraying adhesive?
I used spray adhesive to sandwich a baby quilt together. I wonder if it is going to "dry" and not be sticky so when I machine stitch or hand quilt it my needle won't get sticky as it passes thru the layers. Cant believe I didn't think about this before I sprayed it. What to do? What to do? Please help.

I think that depends on which adhesive you used. Is it an adhesive sold specifically for quilt basting? If so, then I would think you would be safe, but if you can give a brand name then people here who have used that specific product can chime in with their experience.

The can does say it is repositionable. The can also says the adhesive will Diminish over several weeks. or be completely removed after washing. ------ I don't want to wash before I quilt, so i guess I have to wait several weeks.......yuck. So that's what the can says, what is the "sticky needle" experience with the forum members who have used this?

I have not used that brand, but other brands I usually quilt shortly after I spray baste. I work during the week and usually only get to play on the weekends. So I don't have time to wait I have never had any problems

I also haven't used that brand, but I definitely wouldn't wait several weeks... I think they mean that it will come unstuck if you wait (which sort of defeats the purpose). I use 505 spray, and quilt immediately, with no sticky needle problems. I would give it a try and see how it goes.

I have used Sullivan's for several years now and have not had a problem with a sticky needle, and I usually sew it the same day if it is a small quilt. The reason I wait on larger quilts because I usually have to re-arrange my work area before I can sew. Guess it really depends on how thick you spray it on. I usually do a quick spray over.

Quilt it now and bind, then wash before you gift. Or just tell the recipient how to wash. You want the quilt washed before baby touches it anyway just to wash out the chemicals in the fabric. Some brands of spray basting are a little sticky. I've not used yours. I use 505 spray, but have had others that were hard to quilt over.
