Thank you thank you! I spent a long time yesterday on line searching for it (to buy) but I had no idea what it was called. I kept searching under granny squares with chain, etc,

That doesn't sound hard at all. Right?
- So in your first picture you have the 9-patch that includes the 4-patch corners outlined. Now reduce the other to a 9-patch, and you have it.

If it was for a small lap to a twin size, I think I would make them 6" or 8" squares
for a queen to king size, I would make them 10" or 12" squares
Again, like with all quilts, it a matter of preference. If it suites your taste then go for it!!!
