On Craiglist in my area there is an industrial Singer. Fairly new, model CG500C.

I absolutely love my Juki, but I am sometimes frustrated when I want to piece and she's on the frame. What do you all think of this machine, for piecing. It's $150.00.

Thanks

I have an older industrial Singer, the 191. They are heavy duty machines . They often sell for many hundreds of dollars. Go check it out!

You should always have a back up machine or one other than the one on the frame---check it out, if it's a good deal buy it. Make sure that it will do the stitches you want, that the feet you want are available and that it's not too heavy to lift. Sometimes those industrial machines are heavy.

The reviews are mixed. People either seem to love it or hate it. The haters seem to be people who don't sew. (Stuff like: the strings get tangled. Strings?)

Well, I bought it. I have to work but I will play with it later. It's a newer Singer, and I would classify it as semi-commercial. But, I have another workhorse for piecing. I feel like I should go after an oldie after reading about them so much, but I am just not ready. And have literally no place at the moment to put a cabinet.
