I would buy it for that price, with or without the case. It looks like it needs some cleaning at a minimum, and possibly some mechanical help, but featherweights are fixable, and they are wonderful machines.

Make sure you give her a good oiling. The book will tell you the spots to oil. Billy recommended any carnuba car wax without cleaner (plain carnuba) for getting her all shined up.

I sewed on a Featherweight for years. they make a beautiful stitch and are easy to take to classes. BUT, that being said, whenever I took a class that involved something other than a straight stitch I had to lug around my large machine. I sold mine and bought Janome Gem 760 that sews beautifully and also give me several other decorative or utility stitches that are common in today's quilts. It only weights 12 lbs...

Oct of 1938 is the date of your machine ! Craiglist was already deleted by the time i got to it but you can buy just the handle for the case and w/o looking at the case...if it's bad, just removed the covering and sand the box & refinish it. I do have an exta case in hope of finding an fw that may not have an case, eventually 8-) . found it used on ebay for 40.00, with taped on handle

Be careful, because the black can be ruined by modern cleaning chemicals. Baby oil is safe. Rub gently, especially around the gold decals.
