I like your block just the way it is. I also like annette 1952's idea to dress it up for the holidays and then use it after for everyday. I don't care for things that celebrate just one day as someone else said. Too much work for just a few days. IMHO.

I'd do the red and cream/tan that you put together. If you have it out at Christmas, it will look Christmasy, but you could actually leave it out all winter, because it doesn't scream Christmas!

You can certainly do it any way you wish but for a Christmas quilt...I would have green right next to the red instead of the grey/tan. Christmas is all about red and green and that in itself says it is a Christmas quilt. However, I like bright colors and you might not so it is your quilt do it to suit your taste and don't worry about what anyone else says...LOL.
I sure it will be very nice...like that star pattern.

My thinking exactly! If I were adding an accent I'd use purple, because it would go well with other Christmas red and green items, and my favorite Christmas prints have all included purple. But red and cream is a classic combo, anytime, including Christmas.

I made a Christmas quilt and hang it all year. Maybe add some black (or deep dark forest green) along with the tan like this one.

With the dark forest green/black, I don't think it reads Christmas, but could be festive.

I do not see Christmas here. I love what you are doing, and the block is very pretty. I think if you would use Christmas fabrics with reindeers, snowmen or holly, it would look more Christmasy.

I would use the dark green above the picture where you have the brownish looking material, next to the red, reads more like Christmas to me.

I absolutely love reading replies here. So many varied opinions. The solid tan is actually a very pretty linen that I love and the brown fabric is a tea stain which is also a favorite of mine. I am going to go for the Tea stain combined with the red and green I think. I found the neatest picture of a scrappy to diagonal double Sashing that I want to post here and ask if anybody can tell me how it's done.
