I'm tired of "country". I live in the country, in a cape cod style house, with colonial furnishings - so I'm surrounded by it. guess that's what pushes me toward brighter and modern colors/styles.

Exactly my thoughts! I'm also not fond of the new retro 70's stuff with avocado green, harvest gold, and weird orange. Really? I lived through that nightmare of clashing colors and I don't want to go back! Next, they'll be selling us that icky polyester & acrylic crap again and I will have to make my own clothes out of dish towels! I had a rash for most of that decade from the crappy fabric! I ended up wearing flannel most of the time.

I am getting tired of seeing so many black & white quilts.

I don't care for dull, muddy colors, avocado green, peach, strange oranges, or orange-ish reds. I love pure, bright colors.
Am liking black & white now. Though I want them clear, not the muddied black or off white. Pinks are still one of my favorites. Cool colors in general.
All of us with different likes is what makes life interesting! Seeing other folks' creations in several colorways is always great!

I've seen grey used as borders and backings on a lot of the blogs. Doesn't do a thing for me!

When I first started quilting I tended to pick the darker colors...I'm still in love with them, but I'm with Rosemarie...don't care for all those blended patterns where you can't see the quilt block design! I also like the lighter flowery patterns.

You know it is a shame that the reproduction (Civil War) fabrics have been made that way because they were really bright yellow, bright red, and bright blue colors. There are sample books that have been found unopened for years so the fabrics are still as bright as they were when they were new and that fact has been lost!

It's not so much a color (or color combination) that I don't like - rather some of the really bright and busy fabrics all in one quilt. Some Kaffe Fasset prints are just so bright that one needs sun glasses. And I'm not fond of 30's anything - but I never did like the 30s.

This was my thought! I prefer brights, but recently lots of babies and all the mother's want pastels, (personal yuck). I keep trying to explain that the babies prefers brights and B&W, but no one's listening.
