My room is yellow with white cabinetry. I love yellow - it makes me happy. As for the true color of the fabric, I think the lighting makes more difference than the wall color.

We had a thread about the best color of a design wall, and I recall that white was not it. I think a light grey or beige flannel was preferred.

I think you should pick a color that makes YOU feel good and that you could stand to stay in for long stretches of time.

We built a room in our basement and I have a portion of it. The color on the wall is a bright orange! I love it!

I love deep, darker colors in some rooms, for me they seem to create a more relaxing environment. My office is a deep, dark blue and I love it. However, when I designed my sewing room I knew that use of dark saturated color would impact how fabrics looked on the design walls. Since white rooms are too stark for me, so I ended up picking a neutral color for the walls, Home Depot's Ralph Lauren brand in "Oatmeal" color, and then painted the ceiling a very bright white to bounce the light back down. It has worked out well for me.

I had a yellow and white sewing room. I loved the yellow walls! They're so much warmer than white. I never had a problem with colors in that room.

Go with what you love and what will make you happy in your room!!

I sew in my living room and the walls are rag rolled mauve on a pale grey background! The room is large and I think you should go with what you like and have lots of light! A design wall will audition your fabrics and blocks well. I use the flannel back of a large vinyl tablecloth and it works very well!

We just painted mine last weekend. I went with a very light tan. It, so far, is very relaxing, yet clean feeling enough to get me energized. If that makes any sense at all!!!
