Sorry for the vent but when I see thread after thread without a clue, I leave the forum and go play with adults.
I agree, though I'm not sure it's not being courteous. I think we've all been conditioned to be marketers, so maybe they think"Guess what I found" would be read quicker than " I found a new ruler " or even "i found a new half square triangle ruler". (and then you take the time and find someone found an extra big dust bunny under the sewing machine)! I do skip things that I might enjoy because of time restrictions and the vagueness of titles.

I like it just the way it is, find lots of great new ideas, patterns, etc. But love the varied responses to this one. lol

I agree. Sure some people may like all tutorials in one place, and if we were choosing how to set up the board from scratch, that would be something to take into consideration. HOWEVER, we aren't, and the official description of that section of the board says that it is NOT links to remote sites. So when I'm looking for tutorials by members, that's where I go and what I expect to find there. If I want off-site tutes, I can browse the links section. If I want both, I can use the search function.

I reread the previous posts and only read different opinions and suggestions. Just think if someone hadn't said something about loose leaf papers we probably wouldn't have the paperclip today. Were those people whining? I doubt you would think it was ok if someone said something like this to one of your posts. Sometimes when we're not in a good mood we read things differently than was intended. Maybe step away for a while and go for a walk or eat some chocolate. Hope you have a better day!

i believe the answer lies in the subject line.

for example, if you're posting a tute that you wrote and took your own pictures of, the subject line should reflect that. i.e. "How i make My ......". than, according the direction in the rules section, that thread should go into the tutorial section.

if you're posting a link to a remote site, it should somehow be labeled as such. i.e. "Making Perfect Points - The Quilt Show".

or "How to ......... the Jinny Beyers Way". then it should go into the links/resources section.

at least that's the way it's supposed to be done. and that does let you know wether it's from a remote site or one of us.

that said, i do agree that they should all be in one section and through the search option anyone can find what they want. it just makes it less confusing for members to post tutes. it also makes it possible to cruise the tute section and read anything that looks interesting that you might not even know was there.

    imo.

btw, i just read stormatsea45and i will try to remember to add to the subject line that there's a video if there is one. i know they take forever to load. if i do forget, i apologize.

I agree with an earlier post. When I'm looking for a tutorial, I like to go to one place--the tutorials. I really don't care whether it is by someone here or outside. I'm just interested in the instructions. Let's keep it simple.

This would satisfy both points of view

I feel the same. I like to know there's one place I can go to find the information I need, regardless of the form...member tutorial or link.
