CORDLESS IRONS
#12
I have a cordless iron, it's a strange European brand so that information is no use to you! But I love it. It stays hot long enough to iron a few blocks and reheats very quickly. If I'm ironing yardage, I iron the section on the board, put the iron on it's stand, move the fabric to the next section and the iron is hot again. It also has the facility to be used corded and a facility to lock it on the stand, which is a great safety feature as I have two little kids. I love it. In fact, I have two, one in the sewing room and one downstairs for DH's shirts - guess which I use most?
I would say check out the heating up time (DH says that's to do with wattage!) and look for one that can also be used corded. But as a principle, it's a great thing! :-D

I have a Maytag cordless that I like very well. I don't think it cools down too quickly, and it heats back up pretty quickly when it does cool off. I've had mine for about 4 years. I like the fact that it is heavy.

I have an Oreck cordless iron. I got a gaggle of free gifts if I purchased an Oreck vacuum cleaner. I like the fact that I don't have the cord dragging and I can keep the base in a safe location where the cord will not pull it off the counter. It is a little larger than my regular iron and a bit heavier, but if you need a new vacuum ...

I was lucky enough to get one of the Maytag cordless in the late 90s and I absolutely love it. Just like other Maytag products (before they sold to Whirlpool), it has not needed ANY service. It has been great. I use it for quilting only. I have a regular iron for ironing large items and regular laundry (does anyone do that any more?!). Unfortunately, they no longer make the Maytag. I don't know what I will do if and when this one breaks down. So far, so good! The best is I have never had it spit and sputter at all either!
