$4 x .80= $3.20 so it would be $7.20 a yard-I agree. Where I buy fabric, the fabric is $5.99 a yard and set in stone until it is gone and then my friend says she won't know yet what the new prices will be.
I too am thankful for my stash, but like RaptureReady said, if we had thought about the cost,we might not have had our kids either. There is fabric out there, we just need to be creative and find it. Our grandmothers quilted during the depression and made some beautiful quilts and they should be inspiration to us.

That is a great way to think!!! I will never stop quilting...I don't care how much it costs.

Prices are going to go up, and I would be willing to bet that bolt size will go down. WOF will go back to 36 inches. I haven't heard anything about this yet, but I would be willing to bet its going to happen

    4.00 x 40% is a raise of 1.60, 4.00x80% is a raise of 3.20 per yard.

I don't believe that. Plenty of grain fed beef is fed without drugs or hormones too and it's nutritionally just as healthy as grass fed (which, btw, produce a LOT more methane).

Check out Marshalls Dry Goods at

    http://www.marshalldrygoods.com/?gcl...Fac65QodcjYxHA

Some nice lady on this board sent the link in a topic a few days ago. I went there and ordered and the fabric is beautiful. Quilt shop brands too.

    $16.99 + 80% = 30.58 + 13% tax = $34.55/m

I can't see it happening. I know that my LQS will do whatever they can to keep the prices reasonable because nobody will be paying these prices.
AT THESE PRICES FOR COTTON I THINK I'LL GO WITH SILK!

You are in error when you figure one yard makes four blocks. You didn't consider the width of the fabric. Thae twelve inch cuts would give you twelve cuts per yard. That changes all the other figures, as well.

Try 5 bucks a yard.com, Thousand Bolts or Connecting Threads.

All have name brand for 5.00 or under some are more.My favorite is Connecting threads free shipping over 50.00 and it doesn't take long to spend 50 bucks.

At my LQS I pay between $20-$26 dollars a metre and recently purchased a packet of queen size cotton batting for the sale price of $139.99! So $9 a yard sound great to me!!
