Cover up with it or hang it on the wall?

Well, we saw Aiden's parents at church tonight and they thanked us again for the quilt. They told us they had a "family meeting," and decided it was too nice to use. I have no idea who attended this meeting, other than the two of them and her stepmother. His mom put some tabs on it and they are hanging it in the baby's room. While we're honored that they like it so well, we are a bit surprised. This isn't even really a pattern. We just cut out the robots and surrounded them with brights.
Do you consider the quilt as being "used" if it's hanging on the wall? I guess they are enjoying it, and it's better than being stuffed in a cedar chest somewhere.

It is great that they love it so much they want to give it a place of honor in the little ones room. Course, you probably pictured the little one all snuggled up in it....but as you said at least they are using it. Perhaps when the baby gets a little older they will decide to let him use it to snuggle with. It really is an adorable quilt!

Its nice that they love it..but to me a quilt for a wee one is meant to be used and dragged around and loved to pieces. I'd rather have to replace the binding a time or two and patch a hole..but thats just me.

That's a wonderful compliment to on behalf of the family. Talk about recognizing the value of your work!
And while I also prefer baby quilts being used until they disintegrate, it's a lot better than being put away out of sight, never mentioned again or used for the dog (I've seen these things happen to friends - they were devastated).
Let them enjoy the quilt however they want. Maybe there will be another baby in the future and they'll take it off the wall then.
On another note: ALIEN INVASIONS!!!
That was one of the coolest kids fabric lines I've ever seen. Great graphics, bright colors on black, fabulous coordinating fabrics. I'm using the stripe for a pieced back on a baby quilt I'm making right now.

OH yeah! I think that they appreciated your work so much that they just don't want it "messed up" by using it & they want to display it because they like it so much!. It is very cute!! I was thinking the same thing as Nursie-that they will probably let him use it later.
