those kind of remarks are one of the reaons I quit doing craft shows after two when I retired. Now, all my quilts and other home made things are gifts. Unbelievable what people will say about your work that you have put many hours on.

I tell myself that if I like something well enough to want to make it myself, I can at least buy one for inspiration and to study at home. If I can't afford it, then at least I enjoyed looking.

I like the comment below about making it yourself but when and for how much. People can be so insensitive and rude, it's like they were raised with no manners at all. I've met a few of those over the years when I was doing craft fairs with my sister and even when I was chairing craft fairs at my church. Just because it is a church fair, does not mean that all the items were donated, so they shouldn't pay much. They have no idea how many long hours people worked to make those items, mostly at their own expense, without reimbursement. Takes all kinds to make a world.

I used to do craft shows and heard these same things.
I have a few favorite shows I still go to. DH went with me last year. I absolutely fell in love with a santa. Dh says a little too loudly...."You can make it." I looked at him and said."Probably could, not gonna happen and it wouldn't be this cute." That Santa was a hit in my living room. If that seller is there this year I will buy another.
That will teach him to have manners...or to stay home.

That little girl loving on the Santa makes it worth whatever you paid.

When my husband and I were in the Craft Show circuit, those people were known as "Be-backs".
