Where's the picture of the Avitar quilt? My grandson is a fan of that show and I'd like to make him one.

Other than stone-washed jeans - just about everything "store-bought" is made from unwashed fabrics.

11) Where did you get the pattern for that?

12) Do you give discounts to senior citizens?

Seriously, though, there have been items I would have been happy to have purchased a pattern for if it had been available - even if I didn't want to purchase the finished item.

When they sneak out their CELL PHONES and start nabbing photos you KNOW what they are up to.

My mom, who is also a crafter, taught us "code" when we were young and at craft shows. Instead of hollering, "Hey ma, you could make this!" we were to say, "This is nice..." ;)

I have friends who beg me to sell them one of my quilts. When I finally set a price on a quilt for one friend, she said, "but I could buy one from xyz.....and it is less than $100!" I told her that would be a better buy for her.....and left it at that.
(She had NO idea what the fabric and time cost me.)

I have done shows since 2001 with my candles and bath and body and always get most of those same remarks. Now with the candles I get...WOW did YOU pour all of these? Or...I love this scent...where did you get it? (sneaky way of asking for my fragrance oil supplier) One time a wife outted her husband. He must have spent 10 minutes going on about the one particular candle. At the time there was only one supplier of that scent and she was in Canada. When he asked me where I ordered the fragrance I said...I have suppliers all over the USA and even some out of the country. I finally hear him whisper to his wife how he could buy these particular jars and have them embossed with his company name...blah blah blah. I'm thinking...yep that's the way to start out Mr. NOT
. You have to test and retest candles for good throw and safety. He was trying to put the cart before the horse and had dollar signs in his eyes.

Another thing...my SIL is guilty of going to craft shows and shops to find things that she can make for Christmas gifts. We stopped exchanging a few years ago but...every year was always something that she made...and then announce to everyone how she saw it at a show and knew she could make it. She IS a crafting/sewing person but I think she takes it too far too. As someone else said...just last month she told me about some things her and a friend saw at a store at the beach in DE...and they were both using their cell phones to take pictures so she could try to copy it. This was a stained glass picture...I really don't think my SIL is going to become a stained glass expert overnight. When he tells me this stuff...I just shake my head.

Although it is kind of sad, it made me laugh! Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work. P.S. I've never thought that I could make anything as nice as I've seen at the quilt shows, but have not been able to resist taking a photo with my camera from time to time.
