deelybob
I don't know what it is but I was told you could take a regular size thread spool and put inside of the larger spool to make it fit your spool holder i haven't done it so am not sure but thought I would post the idea anyway.

When I saw deelybob I thought you must be talking about the thingamagig. Little did I realize that a word commonly used around here was actually the name of something. Learn something new all the time!

I have them and use them all the time. They fit over your thread spindle (vertical spindle, never used them with horizontal spindle) so when you use cone thread it doesn't wobble when you sew. I think there are a couple of sizes, pick the one that best suits your thread cone size.

deelybobs and thingamagigs, historically what you called something when you didn't know the name,
You know that thingamagig that holds spools a thread. Or It is that deelybob that you do such and such a thing with.
Wonder what an Oxford Dictionary would define them as.
