To my mind, its more about the fabrics than the pattern. Depending on the child's age look for fabrics that have recognizable pictures of objects on them and use any easy block pattern.

I googled "I spy" Quilt patterns and there were almost 2 million listings to inspire you!!

That's a lot easier to make without making the 9 patch first. I've made it both ways and it's a lot easier to strip piece the blue and white sashing. That makes one 5 inch charm, one piece of white sashing and the pieced white and blue sashing the block. I've done it both ways and it's a lot easier to make everything line up if you skip the 9 patch. You can let it out a little or take it in a little to get it to match. Then, you just add the top border and one side with the pieced sashing.

Of course, I'm still a rookie, so it might be easier for others to do it with the d9p.

And, by the way, her cornerstones are blue with yellow dots, which makes the yellow stripe work so well as the binding. My blue had light blue dots, so the yellow stripe looked terrible.

There is an I spy swap group on yahoo groups that has quite a collection of photos of quilts made by some in the group. I'm not sure you can if you can see the photos without joining the group, but it's free to join.
