Just looking online, the power cord and foot pedal for the 6600 looks pretty generic. That's probably why he could plug it in.

But a machine with no cord. Is it hot? ;-).

I buy a lot from Ebay and always from sellers that have 100% ratings. I have never had buy that wasn't exactly what the seller said it was. I use to sell rare books on Ebay when Ebay was new to the internet. I made a small fortune before everyone caught on to know what books to look for at library sales and thrift shops and flood the listings. It was a lot of fun but I have no interest in all that work now.

I had the 6600 and loved it. Not sure what happened that they don't have a power cord or foot pedal. Hopefully it works once you get the cords. Good luck and enjoy your machine.

I know that the 6600 continues to be a popular model for Janome and that the MSRP is around $1200 for a new one. I purchased mine in 2010 and it is my "go to" machine for everything. I have it serviced once a year and she still runs like a champ. You might be able to buy an accessory foot package through Janome rather than looking for individual feet.

I have this same machine, bought it new for 1800 which included the sewing table it fits into. It is a great machine. Most of the feet are interchangeable with Brother feet. I also have a knee pedal which I never use. I wonder why the foot pedal is missing, and the cord? Wierd.

I FMQ on my 6600 and it works great. I don't even have the blue dot bobbin case - don't need it. I change my foot, loosen presser foot pressure, and just go for it. I don't usually change tension and I don't bother to drop my feed dogs either. It's SO easy. I swear this is THE most cooperative machine I've ever used. I can still screw it up by going too fast on the curves and getting eyelashing, but if I stick to a reasonable pace everything turns out great. (Well, aside from my wobbly lines and other mistakes, but that's not the machine's fault!)

I looked at upgrading to the 8900 model but after test-driving it, I liked my 6600 better. The 8900 has some good features and I think it's a more attractive looking machine, but it wasn't enough to make me abandon my beloved 6600.

I think you got a great deal! Looking at the picture, it has the all purpose foot on it and a bobbin. Enough to get you started. I would definitely take it in to your dealer for a good cleaning and service.

I used to do a lot of buying on eBay. The seller has a good rating. If the machine isn't in working condition as described, contact the seller. They will often work with you on getting it up to par. Sellers on eBay really don't want to get negative feedback.

I bought a 6600 when I was living away from home for three years caring for my FIL. wonderful machine. I sold it this spring for $600 which included everything including a ton of feet.

My only advice would be take it to a Janome dealer for a full service. The tiniest little problems can make a good purchase a bad purchase

I too loved the sound the thread cutter made, it sounds like the start to Pink Floyds song Money

    Hi Joyce,
I think Brother makes Babylock and Janome makes Elna. I have 3 Janomes and they are lots different from Brother.
Love your state of Maine. I want to come back and visit it again!
