As for nursing homes, extended care facilities and the like, I think saying things are stolen is way too harsh. Most are simply picked up by residents who think they are their own. Most residences require labels on everything for that reason. Dementia is not even close to dishonesty.

I met a group of quilters when my husband and I traveled in our Motor Home. When he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer they made a quilt for him. It was placed over his closed casket and I have it hanging in my home with great memories of the "Bluenosers" who made it . It means a lot to me and my children and this discussion has made me think of where it should go next!!!

I made one for a lady who went to hospice care and took the quilt with her. When she passed away, the family took it home and laundered it and there it was draped over the casket. It ended up in Michigan with the eldest daughter. I was thrilled that the family valued either the quilt or my friendship so much.

I made my neice a baby quilt when her youngest arrived. A few months later she had a garage sale..selling baby items among other things. I didn't go, I didn't want to see the quilt there. She was the one that 'forgot' to invite me to the shower and I never got a thank you for the quilt. Hope she still has it, but not going to ask. Her little boy is a cutie and we 'played' when we went to another neice's shower. All these neices and nephews keep me busy. LOL My granddaughter on the other hand, picked out the fabrics for hers and kept asking if it was done yet, was it done yet. LOL
