I'm a new quilter and I started this quilt for my 1 year old nephew. He's the only one of his generation so far so I love buying him gifts. This would have been the first thing I ever made him.

However... I find myself thinking about keeping it! I picked out the colors because I know his parents don't like "baby" baby thing so it's a quilt of browns, greens, and blues. I love the fabrics and the quilt isn't neccessarily a baby quilt!

I feel guilty. But then I try to tell myself I could always make him another quilt. So I'm very torn.

Does this ever happen to you?

Haha do you usually keep them or give them to their intended recipients?

It's probably about 50/50. I just hate it when I don't want to part with one I made for someone else!

I do give it to the one I have made it for, but it is hard to do.

Consider it a practice quilt and keep it. But then follow through and make him a different one!

I always give to the person it's intended for. That doesn't mean that secretly I'm wanting to keep it. Have had that happen many times!

It sounds like you might need to keep this one and make another one for your nephew telling yourself that one is definitely for him. :D

I think that's a good sign that it's a lovely quilt, and he should get it. And make YOURSELF another one. He doesn't get the seconds. ;)
