Definitely!!
As a matter of fact I am about to start one around a beautiful lighthouse panel a friend gave me , just gonna add boarders.

Here is a quilt that I made with Laurel Burch fabric that just could not be cut into small pieces. It would have just ruined the pattern of the fabric. I cut it into large rectangles, made sashing for it and quilted. I really liked the effect.

That's what I call my "permanent stash". They won't be cut until I either find the perfect project for them or run out of other fabric.

Have you seen the pattern "Sidelights" by Mountainpeek Creations? It features a panel or theme fabric on the left side and features blocks, and borders around the right and bottom. I have really enjoyed using this simple pattern to showcase beautiful material I don't wish to cut up. I have also used the unsymetrical pattern design as a starting point for other kinds of side blocks. Its an easy pattern.

I have a bunch of fabric that I brought home from my time in the Peace Corps. I want to make a quilt eventually, but I am afraid I will mess it up. This fabric can not be replaced, unless I jump on a plane to africa! I will wait untill I know what I'm doing before touching that fabric.

Yes, and I ended up doing a hand quilted whole cloth wall hanging. It's in the hall by my sewing room. Just love it.

Central Ohio: From NorthEastern Ohio: I have that same fabric for a wedding quilt for my niece. I'm going to use the Warm Wishes pattern.

But I have another dilemma. I have the New Dawn panel with the astrological signs in a huge circle around the sun. I'm trying to figure out how to turn the sun so the panel will be up and down, not across. I hate when this stuff happens!

Oh yes this does happen, and when it does the fabric goes into what I call the fabric "muesum" . It does not come out and get cut till something even more spectacular takes its place.
My family ( all quilters) love to come and look at the stuff in the "muesum". Maybe I should have them wear gloves when they pull out a piece.
