Thermore batting is the thinnest and best I found for this stuff!

Warm and Natural. My neighbor has one on her table that doesn't have batting. After washing once it looks like a rag on her table.

I'm going to back the table runner for my MIL with fleece. One, because I'm a tad lazy and 2nd so it won't be too thick.

How about using flannel? I have used that in the past when really thin batting was required. Just remember that it shrinks like the dickens so prewash and hot dry is a must!

I use interfacing-type fleece, Armo or Thermolam brands are good.

Personally, I hate fusible anything, though. Maybe because I'm too impatient to stand at the ironing board long enough to fuse it well, it ripples and comes variably un-fused after repeated washings. I much prefer sew-in products.

I use Thermolam also. I usually get it at Walmart but notice they have a couple different thickness. I usually use the thinner stuff. I use it also for placemats & Christmas stockings.
