After the recent post, I don't press my binding, I tried it on a queen sized quilt and it was great. No more pressing the binding in half for me.

i do not press/iron once I am finished sewing it on the quilt. I do however "half press" before, meaning I do iron both outside edges to the middle, it is easier for me when I am sewing, what I don't do any more is the final press I used to do which was ironing it in half again, which left a sharp un-necessary crease on the outside edge.....

And I have starting sewing the binding on the back of quilt, turned binding to the front and zigzagged on the front. STURDIER after multiple washings. I have a lap quilt I made that one of my cats LOVES, has been washed many times and hand sewn binding is coming apart. I need to zigzag it SOON...

i don't iron before or after. as long as the seam is very close to 1/4", i can just wrap the binding around and it is fine to sew.

I always used to press it before sewing on the front. After reading here about some who did not I just got done putting binding on a quilt and did not press it first. It worked out great!

I never press my binding...I fold it in half sew it on and if I had pressed it in half the true half way mark wouldnt be at the correct halfway mark because of the amount of space taken up by the folding...it may be just a smidge but I prefer the look of the binding NOT being ironed...there was a post a few weeks ago about not ironing binding as well

I press mine before I sew it on. Then, I press the seam open and finally turn it and press it where I will sew it in place. I did not understand that they other thread was about not pressing it before you sewed it. I thought it was about not pressing the "turn" before you sewed it.

But, I do press at least the binding after I wash it. It just looks better to me.

after reading the post about not ironing the binding before sewing it on, I tried it. It wasn't any easier to put the binding on but I do like the look of it. But I think I'll go back to pressing the binding in half before attaching.

I press and pin. Most probably a bit of an "overkill" but it makes me full secure.

I only press before I sew it on! Tried not pressing it before I sewed it on but it did not work as well for me.
