I DID IT! I started cutting my "just to nice to cut" fabric last night. My lovely batiks are being cut to make a quilt. I almost cried, they have been with me for a while while I collect enough for my king bedspread. Don't have enough yet, but well on my way to start with the blocks.

I have some of those fabrics. I love the large rose patterned chintz drapery fabrics (yes I use drapery fabrics in some quilts) and have finally made up my mind to use an attic window pattern to showcase these. I will let you know when I actually cut into them.

Some of the most beautiful quilts have fabrics other than 100% cotton in them. It takes an expert Quiltologist to be able to incorporate "outside the box" fabrics and make them look good. The old Crazy Quilts had silk, velvet, wool, etc., in them and were fantastic. My most treasured quilt is one my mother made (all by hand) and some of the white in it is from Bull Durham bags. I think it will be beautiful and hope to see some pictures when done.

I suggest to find a pattern and use it! It's never quite as beautiful 10+ years from now. When I was a little girl my grandfather from Montana sent me a piece of pink bunny cloth for an easter dress. My mother just couldn't bear to cut into it. She saved it. Then when I was a teenager (way past the bunny stage), she ended up putting it on the back of a quilt. I was sad than, and still sad.

Even if your project isn't perfect, I think use it now!

How about I'd cut it if I could remember for what project I bought it for that was in my head?? LOL

I've bought pieces that I think will go with something I already have, get home and it'll go with more than one. Then I can't decide what to put it with, so on the shelf it goes until I have more time to think about it. Meanwhile I go out and prowl the fabric stores.

I do have pieces that I don't think I'll want to cut...............at least for a long while.

I thought I was wierd taking my fabrics out, rearranging them and just appreciating the feel of the beautiful cottons and the beauty of the colors. I'm out of the closet now. How liberating!

LOL I sometimes go into my fabric room and just sit looking around at all the beautiful colors and resisting the urge to throw them into a big pile on the floor, get naked and roll around in them. LOLOLOLOL Seriously though I do have to be near them now and then and just absorb the colors. I find the smell of fabric, the feel, the look, all relaxing and somehow comforting. Sometimes I do that and all of a sudden a simply FABULOUS (at least to my way of thinking) idea hits me and I'm off and running with my new project.
