Wow - I wanted a pin cushion and my daughter sent me one she saw on the internet - simply adorable with two pieces, one being a mouse and the other a strawberry containing the sharpener material...unfortunately it was a PATTERN! Poor child.

I haven't the time or strength of purpose to turn it into the cute little thing it should be, all decorated with bits of lace and rickrack and buttons and beads.

So LISTEN UP CAT LOVERS!!! I carefully put all of my needles into an adorable felt mouse filled with catnip!
which I found under the ancient two-ton sofa which my DH helped me lift up when I had to look for the mouse which turned out to be a mommy squirrel which ate the bottom edge of the batting from my son's sandwiched quilt.
Anyhoo...

It is somewhat like the pattern I got, the mouse part.

I also collect pincushions. I have one that I bought in Hawaii that sits on my sewing cabinet. I use it more than the others. Most of the time I use a magnetic pin holder. I use most of the pincushions for decorating my sewing room.

Nope, my pins came in a clear plastic box and I keep them in that.

I make pincushions to make extra money, but I also have a collection. Keep them everywhere around my sewing room...at my machine, ironing board, and cutting table so I don't have to walk all over the place to find my pins...same with scissors. I do understand about the fur babies...I have picked up a couple in my bare feet!!

I love pin cushions and collect them. I have a fur baby (my avatar) and she will sometimes pull out the pins from the cushion and spit them on the floor.

I have lots and lots of pin cushions
I love pin cushions so friends often buy them for me on their trips.
Some are on display in my quilting room: a big chicken next toa little chicken, a mouse with a stiff tail to hold bobbins, and 2 lovely wooden ones from the Shakers - one is on a clamp that screws onto my sewing table..
I switch off, am currently using a standard tomato, one from Alaska with little Eskimo heads around it and a 2" square made by a friend.
And, yes, I use them all the time.

I have a little tupperware container with a tight lid that I keep my pins in. I can't leave pins out or my bird will get them & I have to be careful about dropping them on the carpet, so I keep the lid on this plastic dish most of the time. When I'm done with them, the pins are put back into the dish & it's put back where it can hold my coffee cup. Dual purpose...living in tight quarters you need that!! :-)

I have some. One or two that belonged to my mother, but I do not use them. I use the magnetic dishes. Works better for me.

I use my pincushion! Just a cheap one from Walmart, but I would love to have prettier ones someday!
