I found a video for the log cabin feathered star but I can't get it to run...you might try

The center star appears to be built as a log cabin, starting with a diamond, and adding on on only two sizes, until the desired size is reached, and hst "feathers" are added. Since the field is log cabins, you may want to look through some log cabin books to find it.

Someday I hope I am experienced enough to piece this pattern. Oh, the woes of learning with patience when there are so many beautiful quilts to be made!!!

Yes that is where I found the picture I have. But I can't find the pattern. Any suggestions? I wanted to make it for my bed, but i think I would like to make just the star pattern as a wall hanging. :D Thank you all so much, I feel blessed for being part of this group.

For the block in the very center of the star, I found two different methods of assembly.
1) square with halfsquare triangles added at edges
2) using diamond shaped pieces

Will try to figure out how to get the pics from the design sketchbook of EQ7 to here. Haven't figured out how to do everything in it yet, but having fun playing with it!
