Does it bother you when a quilt is referred to as a blanket?

Interesting! What a great discussion & so many opinions! I honestly have never thought of a blanket as a quilt! So I'll just throw my opinion in here too! A blanket is one layer and usually bought at a store. A quilt is 3 layers, most likely handmade. An afghan can be knitted or crocheted ... all wonderful and cuddley and comforting for the little ones we do them for!

Since Peanuts' Linus (Project Linus, get it?) always had a security blanket, it doesn't bother me in the least. In fact it's kinda cute.

I did e-mail their editor Hannah and and requested that she stop doing this. I explained to her that it is difficult enough for quilters to earn the respect of non-quilters due to the influx of foreign made quilts sold in retail stores, but when a major online craft organization also refers to them as blankets it makes it that much harder. How you all feel about this?

After rereading the OP I don't get how calling it a blanket is giving less respect. Like blankets are some slummy nasty things? Seriously? I think I'd be embarrassed about bringing it up to the editor.
